At the request of the URI Board of Trustees, GAU returned to the negotiating table in July to address emergency changes to our contract in light of a $5.6 million reduction in state funding to the university due to COVID-19. On October 15, a tentative agreement was reached between GAU and the Board of Trustees.
Now, it’s your turn to have a say. Please review the proposed changes to our contract, then join GAU on Wednesday, October 28th at 6pm to discuss and to vote on the proposed changes. For more details, see a full run down of how these contractual changes will impact you. This is a members-only meeting, as only signed members of GAU are entitled to vote on contractual changes. If you are not yet a member of GAU, now is the time to become a member.
From May 14th through May 21st, GAU members will have the opportunity to elect their new Executive Board. Please review candidate biographies, then take a look at the sample ballot using our new secure online voting portal.
We still need someone to step up and volunteer to be our union Secretary for 2020-21! If you are interested in stepping up and doing your part to keep GAU running, send us an email at uri.gau@gmail.com.
